#likeagirl2 Have you ever heard the phrase “fight like a girl?” I am certain most of us have at some point, if not, here’s your first time! DO-SOMETHING like a girl, however seems to be a negative term for many…Why? *Because it is often used to express weakness. *Sometimes it is meant to be offensive. *It can be used to humiliate others. There’s something that I bet you don’t hear often…DOING-SOMETHING like a girl is becoming synonym of strength and success for many of us. Before I go any further, have you ever seen this video by Always? It’s called, you guessed it… “#likeagirl.” https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XjJQBjWYDTs This goes to show you, how our perception of doing something like a girl changes as we get older. I don’t know about you, but I think that DOING-SOMETHING #likeagirl is pretty dang awesome. Allow me to tell you why… *We ARE strong. *We constantly fight against labels, and my gosh do we succeed! Ask Christine Lagarde, Sheryl Sandberg, Sonia Sotomayor, Indra Nooyi, and many more women who have broken barriers of negative levels against women. *We are more than capable to fulfill different roles in a matter of 24 hours, and we are good at it! *We have great time management skills. *Our persistence and desire to achieve more allows us to be better mothers, wives, partners, business owners, employees, friends, etc. Despite the so-called “women/mommy wars” you know you still have a select group of supportive girlfriends who will stop shaving their legs to go help you. We are opening doors for fellow women who want bigger opportunities. Whether you believe you have what it takes to #winlikeagirl or not, it is completely up to you. However, I am here to tell you that while it is easier to focus on the negative labels; our community DOES have the power to influence what it means to do things like women do. Show the world what is like to win like a girl, to fight like a girl, to succeed like a girl. Hang on to those women who lift you higher, who support you no matter what. *Don’t contribute to the labels. *Dare those around you to do things the way you do it, #likeagirl. xx -N
